Indonesia is one of the focus countries of the Poultry Expertise Centre (PEC). Last autumn the PEC organized in cooperation with the Dutch Ministry of Economics and the Top sector Agro & Food and other stakeholders a conference focused on the demand for knowledge transfer of poultry in Indonesia and the meaning of the Netherland herein.
In November Eltjo Bethlehem participated in the Dutch trade mission directed by Minister President Mark Rutte and in addition of the Dutch side of Minister of Economics Liliane Plouman and Secretary of State Sharon Dijksma. More than a hundred participants of Dutch industries, included several from the poultry sector. During the mission a symposium was organized about the future of Indonesia here poultry sector for Indonesia well as well the Netherlands.
Based on this vision the PEC work in cooperation with three initiatives and projects aimed at the development of the Indonesian poultry:
- Food Security Indonesia. A project led by the Wageningen University in cooperation with and based on the demand of Indonesian partners. The project focusses on the optimization of the primary sector and poultry slaughterhouse.
- Foodtech Indonesia. A project of Larive with a consortium of Dutch companies who’s working together on questions of Indonesian partners for optimize the Indonesian poultry chain. This by means of practical pilot projects.
- Living Lab Logistics Indonesia. A network organization with the Dutch organizations DINALOG and NUFFIC.
19 December 2013 there was a meeting in The Hague about the three initiatives. The PEC remains involved.
