February 6th, 2014 a delegation from the Ministry of Economic Affairs (DG Agro) visited a number of top companies in the poultry. The aim of the visit was to form a better view about the position of the Dutch Poultry sector in the world and the current issues. The Poultry Expertise Centre had the honor to organize an interesting program about the entire poultry chain in cooperation with the poultry companies.
The guests were received at the Rondeel in Barneveld. Family Brandsen exploit here a special housing concept for laying hens. Mr. Peter Vingerling of Vencomatic (developer of the Rondeel) explained the concept and the thoughts behind it. The reactions on the special draft were mixed but the Vencomatic got the commitment to realize it. The realization of this project shows the innovative character of the poultry industry.
After a tour of the Rondeel the group leaves for lunch at the Groenhorst Barneveld and then to MOBA. MOBA introduced themselves with a presentation and tour of the company, headed by Mr. Paul Buisman, Product Manager. With 80% MOBA is market leader in egg processing machines. The efficiency and reliability of the machines in here wearing no small measure to this. Therefore MOBA can compete with low-wage countries despite the relatively high wage costs in West-Europe.
Finally the group visit Jansen Poultry Equipment where director Mr. Ab Jansen received the group and introduced the company. Jansen Poultry Equipment develops and builds housing systems for laying hens and broilers for the world market. Also Jansen has the entire production based in the Netherlands. The high automation and efficiency makes Jansen a competitive company with foreign countries.
Jansen Poultry Equipment as well MOBA needed well-trained staff for hold the high position in the world.
After the tour of the factory of Jansen the day closed with a short evaluation. The employees of the Ministry are impressed of the professionalism and dedication of the complex sector. They are surprised about the many people involved in the Dutch poultry sector directly and indirectly and the huge revenue that goes with it. For further develop up the international market and knowledge the Ministry of Economic Affairs will support where possibility.
